Student experienced coding through Sphero Lightning Lab App to drive the Sphero onto the target. First and 2nd graders explored Sphero Draw and Drive. Go to the Patton/Windsor coding website to select a grade level and explore many coding apps and sites.
We now have two Self Checkout stations complete with their own scanners for the students. All 4th and 5th graders have Windsor library cards that are kept in the LMC. This has enabled the students to check out, review the books that they have out, and decrease the line at the checkout desk. All holds and renewals go to the main desk. We are expanding to our 2nd and 3rd graders within the next few weeks.
Nonfiction November was filled with activities to explore nonfiction texts. We had Fact or Fiction challenges, Nonfiction Bingo, used Magazines to learn about facts, and filled the bulletin board with Fun Facts! Morning announcements have shared a few fun facts each day and will continue in December. Kindergarten and First Graders learned about the Dewey Decimal system using our Dewey Ducks. They also learned how to use the Visual Dewey system the Windsor's very own, Mrs. Welzenbach, painted on the walls above the Nonfiction collections.
